Each year, the Show Stopper Awards at IFAI Expo reward the most popular products of all exhibitors. The criteria for the award are innovation, economy and environmental friendliness. Entries are displayed in the exhibition area and the winners are selected by a panel of industry experts.
The DITF received the award in the category "Chemicals, Coatings and Compounds". Dr. Reinhold Schneider and his team were honoured for their research work on UV-curable polymers for use in composite materials.
UV-curable polymers are a novelty in the field of fibre reinforced composites. The use of such matrix materials helps to reduce energy costs and cycle times in production. The low equipment requirements of a UV-fixing unit make the new matrix polymers economically attractive even for manufacturers of small series.
IFAI Expo takes place annually and is one of the biggest trade fairs for technical textiles in the USA. This year it took place as a virtual event. The DITF were represented as exhibitors for the fourth time.
